Bellezza

Bellezza

A Tuscan word for 'beauty', Bellezza was inspired by the discovery of antique wooden marking tools at an architectural flea market in Florence.

The tools, originally used in the 13th century to decorate altar cloths and church manuscripts, were recreated by maestro molder, Stefano Roseli.

Using these ancient techniques, Roselli presses intricate details in the handmade shapes of terra cotta clay. In order to accommodate for the intricate designs on both the top and bottom of each piece, a traditional French kiln method of placeing each piece on metal pins is used so as not to need a foot in firing. The pins create small slightly visible holes on the bottom of each flat piece.
